
Meet Tamara Jeffries
Tamara Jeffries has spent more than three decades as a writer and editor for books and publications that focus on health and wellness, including her work as Executive Editor of Essence and senior editor for Yoga Journal.
She completed yoga teacher training in 2013 at Triad Yoga Institute, and meditation teacher training under the Open Heart Project in 2020. She is a member of the Black Yoga Teachers Advisory board, and was an advisor for Yoga Alliance Standards Review Project. She received training in Intuitive Eating from Jenna Hollenstein and Evelyn Tribole. She currently teaches yoga as part of the SAFE Yoga Project, a project of You Call This Yoga.
She has a degree in media arts from Hampton University and an MFA in Creative Nonfiction Writing, which she uses in her work as a journalism professor Bennett College in North Carolina. There she also taught the first for-credit yoga class at an HBCU.
